First Trip to the Dentist

The past week has been a big week in the life of a three year old. Turning three means Ella's first trip to the dentist. So that's exactly what we did. I am more than in love with my dentist. I'm super funny about my teeth, but I also know that with no braces or cavities, I don't have the same experience as most people. Dr. Murphy, along with my dental hygienist have been the only ones to touch my teeth since I was six. I think my file still contains this for interests: "likes to swim in her pool." Anyway, Ella went with me to my dentist. The plan was for Ella to watch my cleaning and for her to follow. Kate had an appointment scheduled the following week, so she joined us as well to rule out the "fear of the unknown" for her visit. Beforehand I let Ella choose her own movie to take so she could watch it. When the time came, Marlena (hygienist) asked if Kate wanted to sit in the chair with her to hold her hand. And well, these two do awfully well together.

Marlena asked Kate to hold the suction straw and put it in Ella's mouth during different times. So Ella decided to return the favor....with her straw! Pretty sure they were cringing about this one!

It all worked out because of an opening after us that Kate got to do her very own cleaning that day! Then Dr. Murphy came in to tell me, "her teeth look perfect."

My favorite part of the dentist visit as a kid was the toy basket. They still have it!

Thanks, Ms. Marlena!

"Look Mom! No cavities!"
