A Great God and Guests

Sunday night I got a call from my mom on the way home from church. I could barely understand her she was so upset, but what I heard was: "Lindsey just called, Ava's not breathing. Pray!" I stopped what I was doing (driving), prayed, and then turned around to head to Lindsey's house to get the boys. I figured they were running everywhere with ambulances, firetrucks, and police cars, so I headed to get them.

Needless to say, Ava gave us all a scare and many cries out to God. She was revived by paramedics in the ambulance, but wasn't responding. Preliminary tests showed nothing that night, and although she was awake she still couldn't track light, voices, or people and didn't respond to any stimuli (caths, bloodwork, hunger, and multiple tests). Any possible damage was left to assess the following morning. Things still were not improving for Ava until Monday afternoon when she finally gave a smile and started crying when she was hungry or being poked and proded on. She continued to improve without any permanent damage (PRAISE GOD) and was released Wednesday. She was given a monitor to wear anytime she is unattended. This monitor will alarm if for any reason she stops breathing. The situation is truly a miracle and we are all so grateful and giving God the glory!

While all the events were happening at Children's Hospital, The Shad Shack was hopping with kiddos! Sunday night and all day Monday and Tuesday I had Ava's older brothers. Let's just say getting 2 people ready and out the door each morning is much easier than 4 (all within 9 months of each other, excluding myself)! We had a great time, though. We had lunch, went to jump, and I even got to tag along with Aidan on his field trip to Southern Belle Farms. We had a great time!

Tuesday night, once Ava was released from ICU to a regular room, I took the boys to visit. They enjoyed seeing their sweet sister (and Mama, whom they missed dearly). Aunt Erica didn't mind laying her eyes on dear Ava either.

Everyone's back home and safe and sound. But it was busy, emotional roller coaster of a week!
