Slackers and More Snow

It's been a busy start to the year. As usual. We hit the ground running at 12am on January 1st and haven't looked back. 2011 has been good, but as our life seems to always be, nonstop. We wouldn't have it any other way. Daddy left at 3am on New Year's Day for 8 days. He went with a group from our church on a mission trip to Trinidad. For memory's sake: Ella is quite accustomed to having daddy gone for work, but she knew this trip was different. Everywhere we went she told people, "My Daddy on a trip. He's not at work. He tell people about Jesus." Although he worked in tropical temperatures, he came home to the blistering cold.

The night after he returned was when the south shut down with snow and ice. I took some pictures to remember the "Storm of 2011." Let me be clear that these pictures may give a false sense of loving the snow. On Monday morning, she told us she didn't want to play outside, "I just wanna watch a movie." We spent the day driving around, doing doughnuts in nearly every parking lot, and even had lunch out and went to the store. We stopped by Gigi and Poppy's house where Ella was able to partake in the only "snow fun" for the day.

Ella and her main squeeze.

Uncle Brad had a little redneck sledding rigged up for his grand kids but was happy to let Ella join in on the fun. She never batted an eye when we asked if she wanted to ride and would've probably stayed on the sled until bedtime had we let her. I think Daddy relived a little of his childhood watching this. And Gigi, she did a good job of not freaking out watching her baby being pulled and jerked around on an icy field.

The next day, Pawpaw and Nena and Meme came over to play in the snow with Ella. Little did they know, my little girl is not a snow bunny. They managed to squeeze out a couple of snowballs being thrown, a small snowman being built with Pawpaw, and a little running around in the crunchy (aka icy) snow. But that was it. She was ready to go inside.

And I was, honestly, okay with that. I went outside to snap a couple of pictures of mom and Ella playing and I found mom in the front yard and Ella sitting on the garage steps. "It's too cold out there," she said. I think us chicks are much more suited for the beach. But now we're getting back in the routine of things, actually going to school, and anxiously awaiting Thursday. That's when we find out if Baby E is a he or a she!

Hey, at least she looks cute for the few minutes she was out there, and you are braver than me. I didn't take a single picture of the snow. I left the camera inside where it couldn't be injured in any falls which I was sure would happen at any moment.
