Five Months

Emily, you are FIVE MONTHS old today!

At five months, you:
  • weigh 15lbs 12oz, and are 25" long. You are BIG!
  • wear a size 2 diaper and 3-6 month clothing. Some stuff is bigger but generally you're still there.
  • Are sleeping really well. Since starting rice cereal at night before bedtime, you sleep from 9:30-10pm to about 7am. Mama loves it!
  • Speaking of eating, you have started eating with a spoon this month. You are only allowed 1 tablespoon of rice cereal right now (all your intake is precisely measured...get used to it!) but you do take it all. You push a lot of it out with your tongue right now, but I just scoop it off your chin and try again.
  • You take 26oz of formula a day. Two 7oz bottles (at morning and night) and two 6oz bottles. Eating is going so much better. And I couldn't be happier about it.
  • Your phe levels have been terribly high this month. :( Like around 10mg% for most of the month. But praise God this last week you came down to a 4.6. It's like a roller coaster around here. I'm getting better at being able to see symptoms of your highs. Your skin breaks out terribly (eczema) and you are easily irritable.
  • You still nap on and off during the morning (mostly because you are at the gym with me) and then take a long afternoon nap.
  • You have moved into your exersaucer. You can't exactly work all the buttons and gadgets yet but you look around and eat whatever you can.
  • Speaking of eating...you put everything in your mouth! Slobbering has increased significantly this month. I think your teeth are beginning to come in (not through the gum). You LOVE your hands. You're not a thumb kind of girl, you try for the whole fist. That usually results in gagging which, well, you know, doesn't end well.
  • You babble and talk non-stop. You've found your scream and high pitches of your voice. And you use them often. Sometimes you sound just like a cat. No kidding.
  • You're almost able to roll from back to tummy (you can get to your side but not completely over) and you're working on sitting up. You've got good back strength you just lean over still. Won't be long.
  • I chose these pictures (with no pants on) to show the real you. Those rolls in the legs, the way you always put your feet together, hand in the mouth, and slobber on your shirt. It's so you and I love it.
  • You're growing so fast. I can't believe you're 5 months old. You are seriously so happy, so social, and so sweet. I love you to pieces and am so blessed to watch you grow.
