The Waiting Game

Remember how we were all waiting on Baby B? Well on February 19th (so what, I'm a tad behind) we took the word waiting to a whole other level. I got a phone call from the Daddy-to-Be saying the doctor had sent them to the hospital because Brooke was a 5 0r 6 and that if her water hadn't broken in an hour they would break it for her. So, knowing things take awhile with baby number one, except not really (because I never actually went into labor myself), I took my time, got ready, dropped Ella off at MeMe's and slowly made my way to the hospital. I arrived in the afternoon (around 2) and saw a room full of anxious faces.

Meanwhile, this mama was as happy as can be (thanks to the smartest man alive, Andrew Hingson) eating on her jello.

Then the waiting game began. There were guesses on Baby B's gender, weight, arrival time, etc. Once that all died down, we took to watching the Olympics, playing games on the phone, reading literature about the hospital (GREAT job, Jenn, on the amazing photographs in that literature), and staying distracted with all the other babies present.

But then we still had to wait.

And wait some more.

Then, at roughly 10:30pm Daddy came strolling out of the OR with his bundle of joy. IT'S A GIRL!

Know what came next? You guessed it. We waited a little longer. She entered this world at 10:06pm, but because she was delivered cesarean, we had to wait for mama to recover much longer than expected.

Once Brooke was moved to a room, Daddy and Baby were moved also.

Then, after all that waiting (at about 2:00 am) I got to see that precious child.

As for all that waiting, after seeing dear friends with a sweet and healthy miracle in their arms, it was totally worth it.
