It doesn't happen often in the South, but it does happen. Last week we got several inches of real, white, fluffy snow. By noon there was no sign of even the smallest flurry. But by nap time, flakes were starting to fall. Ella was excited and anxious about the snow, but I assured her the real fun wouldn't happen until after nap.
Once those couple of hours had passed, she awakened to white covered ground, cars, and everything else. She was super excited to "go out 'der an see it."
But Daddy wasn't home.
He texted me moments before she woke up asking me to "hold her" and that he would be there in a matter of minutes. I figured by the time I got her all layered and bundled up it would be no problem.
So she waited,
and waited,
and waited,
and waited some more. Seriously it wasn't too long (like 5 minutes), but I know to her it seemed like a lifetime. But it was worth it.
When she saw that truck pull in the driveway she was all points and smiles.
"Wook Mama! Daddy's here!"
Daddy added a few layers of clothes and we headed on out.
Ella loved the snow! They immediately starting making a snowman. While Earl was "rolling" the snow into balls, Ella liked to pack the snow together to make the balls. Once she realized Daddy's way was much easier and faster, she just began to pack more snow onto the ball Daddy made.
Then, I took this picture...
....and realized my lens was foggy (from being cold and wet), my camera was soaking wet, and I had better get that baby inside the house. Oops.
Then I returned outside to join the fun. Apparently that camera was keeping me from being hit with snowballs. Both Daddy and daughter enjoyed that. We also enjoyed finishing our snowman.
Don't worry, this southern snow stuck around for another day and I was able to get more pictures without putting my dear old camera in harm's way.

Some of those pics are so cute. they look like professional pictures. I love the one of Ella and Earl with the foggy lens. Chris stood under an umbrella when he took pictures in the snow. Hope your camera is okay.
