How far along: 39 weeks
Size of baby: Emily is the size of a mini watermelon. She should be about 7 pounds and 20 inches.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 16 lbs
Maternity Clothes: Not for too much longer now, hopefully.
Gender: It's a girl! Emily Reese Shaddix.
Movement: That has slowed down some. She still moves (and usually it isn't very comfortable) but I think she's running out of room.
Sleep: Sleeping? It's overrated, I think. Not much of that happening right now.
What I miss: Diet Coke, sleep, being able to move about freely, and an internal thermostat. Whew, I'm hot!
Cravings: Ice cold water is really all I crave. But I'll eat whatever else is offered.
Symptoms: Some contractions and lots of pressure...but no real signs of labor.
Well, today is the day. The day that I am scheduled to be induced. My children must be awfully comfy inside of me because they don't want to come out on their own. We needed to make Emily's exit a little sooner than Ella's because of hip dysplasia. Will you please join me in praying specifically for that? We would love for Emily to have healthy hips (with a nicely formed ball and socket) that are in place.
At my last doctor's appointment on Friday, I was dilated to 2 cm and 70 % effaced. Hopefully the Pitocin will take effect quickly and our baby girl will be welcomed into the world soon! Praying for a safe, speedy, and healthy delivery! We'll update as soon as possible. Can't wait to meet you, Emily!
