One Month

Emily, you're ONE MONTH old today!

At one month, you:
  • Sleep a lot. A whole, whole lot. Like really it's a joke with family and friends. But hey! I'm not complaining.
  • Wear a newborn sized diaper and clothes. Things are starting to fit a little better and not be so big.
  • When you are awake, you've started being able to track people with your eyes. You see them a little better at distances than when they are, ahem (Ella and Kate ;)), right in your face.
  • You sleep at night from about 8 or 9pm until about 4am and then go back to sleep until about 8 or 9am.
  • You loved to be held. And honestly between grandparents, family, and friends, you are held a majority of the time. Are you rotten? I can't say just yet...;)
  • You've broken out a smile a few times. Mostly when people are talking to you. It is the cutest, most crooked smile. And it looks just like your Daddy's.
  • You weigh 9.8lbs and are 21 1/4 inches long. You struggled a good bit with gaining weight at the beginning, but since you've been on medical formula (Periflex Infant) as well as breastmilk and some Similac Advance, you're starting to thicken right up!
  • Your Phe levels have been on the steady track down to treatment range (between 2-6mg%) since we found out and have been treating your PKU. With the first couple of weeks very high, your levels have come down to 5.8% and we are thrilled.
  • You love the swing, bouncy seat, newborn lounger, and being swaddled.
  • You have definitely stolen you Daddy's heart, and with all the care he's given you this month, you're quite the Daddy's girl.
  • Honestly, you're such a sweet (and sleepy) baby, nothing much phases you. Not blood draws, heel pricks, loud noises from sis, or anything else that I can think of. Just keep you fed every four hours so you're not hungry and you're good to go anywhere or do anything.
