On February 9, 1929...

...a precious little girl came into this world. Mary Elizabeth Campbell. One of nine girls that would later get married and give birth to two of her own. She has experienced the Great Depression, World War II, Elvis, the 21st Century, and 15 Presidents. Today, she isn't called Mary, Elizabeth, or even Mama really, but Mamaw. Today my Mamaw turns 80!

As I reflect back on my life and the memories I hold with her in it, I see how I've grown to appreciate her more and more each day. She is a priceless treasure to our family and I know that God has used her in my life to teach me so many lessons on kindness, gentleness, and patience. She has also given me many worldly lessons, but she is most famous for her cooking (although I can't even compare). I cannot think back to my life without her in it and hope that God blesses our family for many more years to come with her presence. I talk to her at least once a week, just to stay updated, and it never seems to amaze me how a 53 year age difference disappears. I talk to her because I love her, I'm interested in her, and she has become a dearly respected friend. Her life continues to be a testimony to me and I can only hope and pray that one day I will aspire to her greatness. What an amazing gift grandparents are to us.

Happy 80th Birthday Mamaw!!
I love you!!

Happy Birthday, Mamaw! It's funny how short of a time I've known her and come to love her, too! She truly is a remarkable woman! Love you, Mamaw!
