For the longest time, Ella showed no interest at all in TV. I must confess, she did love some college football when she was a baby ('at a girl) but other than that, nothing. No Baby Einsteins, no cartoons, nothing. However, things are beginning to change. She was once the girl who wouldn't even pay attention to the TV and now asks for it. Not TV in general, but one show in particular........Jack.
I have no idea how I found it or what the circumstances were, but it doesn't matter. Ok, actually I do, but I'll get back to that in a minute. I never worried about the TV watching thing because I've never wanted her to be a kid that was glued to the TV all day. I must admit sometimes how nice it would be, but that would be totally selfish of me, now wouldn't it? That was until she got all that Yucky Crud and had to have nebulizer treatments. It was an all-out war at the beginning, so I began a frantic search for something, anything to make her still, yet distracted for about 5 minutes. That's when I found him.........Jack- and his Big Music Show.
Do you know about him? That Jack. He's not new around channels like Nick Jr. and Noggin, but I'd never heard of him (not exactly first grade material here). I think the original fascination was all the music (the child loves to dance)- which the show is centered around. Of course, now she knows basically the entire intro song...she taps her feet, claps her hands, barks with Mel, and hums with Mary. Oh, and not to forget the all important, "Who is It?" every single time the doorbell rings to Jack's clubhouse. There are some wonderful things about this show that I do love (insert total teachery jargon here): the different styles of music featured, the variety of musical vocabulary they use, as well as Laurie Berkner and many other musicians that frequent the show. I limit both Ella and I myself to one episode a day. It comes on at the most odd times (like 11:30 pm) so we just have several episodes recorded and stored in our arsenal for emergencies (and breathing treatments). You know, because I would never turn one on for 25 minutes of pure productivity...
By the way, I so kindly linked to the audio CD, DVD, and Laurie Berkner Cd's if you're interested in checking them out. :)

The boys (well mostly Jackson) love it, too! I tell you Jackson learned SO much from Disney Channel when he was her age :) I mean I'm just saying. :) :) :) (LOL)
You HAVE to go with us to the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts since she like that so much. Tell Kora about it...we can all go together. The boys LOVED it, and since she likes those puppets I bet she will like it too! We'll have to check for a good show coming up soon.
Oh and isn't DVR wonderful?? We'd never get to see Thomas without it!
