Christmas is always a busy day at The Shack but this Christmas was also a Sunday, so we wanted to take special time and celebrate the real reason for Christmas: The birth of our Savior, Jesus. This meant we had to get up a little earlier and do our family Christmas before getting ready for church and then going to different family celebrations. If you remember last year, our little sleepyhead was less than excited to see Santa's loot when she woke up (on her own). So, as you can imagine, I was a little anxious to have to wake her up. But another year older, made her a little more excited. And although she slowly made her way out of bed, she was super excited to see that Santa had come. Emily was snoozing away and we weren't brave enough to wake her up so she entered the fun about an hour later.
Her three gifts this year were her Bitty twins, with the "clothes to match for me" and pajamas, John Smith and Pocohantas dolls, and a lap coloring station. Emily got a dino ball popper, a box of diapers, and some leap frog toys.
Ella's stocking was stuffed with other requests: a bike for her Barbies (to go on her bike), Cinderella movie, a game for her Leapster/LeapPad, toothbrushes (2 of them), band-aids, Color Wonder markers, and of course the socks that Santa himself promised. Emily got nail clippers, Mylicon drops, a couple of toys, wipes, and socks in her stocking.
Mama was surprised with an iPad and some goodies in her stocking. Not sure who was more excited, Ella or me!

Introducing the newest members of our family: Sally and Herron. She named them all on her own...
Em eventually woke up to join the fun.
We got ready and went to church. Then we went over to Meme and Papa's house. After lunch Ella was chomping at the bit to open gifts. The other part of Ella's wishlist with her "twin baby dolls and pajamas" was the bed. And that's what she got there.
And, of course, in Meme style fashion, the custom bedding matches the playroom.
Emily got a toy box among some other things.
Next we went to Gigi and Poppy's house. First Ella racked up on a Barbie house from Grandmother. Then she got a LeapPad, Princess castle, and bunches of other stuff. Emily (who also slept through this gift opening as well) got a bunch of stuff including her anywhere chair.
It was a great day, and we all got way more than we needed. But we enjoyed our time with family.
Happy Birthday, Jesus!
