Saying Goodbye
Today our family said goodbye to our beloved dog, Casey. She was 14 years old and it was most certainly her time, but that isn't making it any easier for me. Earl took her this morning and they said that she was in a lot of pain and they think her spleen was most likely bleeding. It is very mixed; I am somewhat relieved because now I know she isn't in any more pain and I knew it was time, but I am sad because she was my company before Ella. Earl traveled so much when he first started his job and Casey and I would hang out for weeks together at a time. It was a nice sense of security, even though Casey couldn't hurt a fly if she wanted to!
But over the last year or so, we've seen major regression in her potty training, mobility, and quality of life. I will miss her and I know Ella will...who will she bother? And...with no more dog food to eat, she may wither away to skin and bones.
I enjoyed Casey being a part of our family and I know that I'll never forget her. But I am glad that she isn't suffering anymore. I'll miss you Casey!
