I'm a Big Girl Now

I've been contemplating it for over a week, helped Kora change Kate's bed, talked to Dr. Chin (btw: she says 35" is the absolute tallest a child should be in a crib), and finally broke down and did it! Last night, Earl and I made the transition from crib to toddler bed. At night, she's still in her brace, so there's not a worry of falling out. During naps however is a different story...she's quite the limber child!

Ella slept in it last night with no problems. We never heard a sound until 7:00 this morning, but when I went in there she was still laying bed with a yucky bottom (which is a whole other issue in itself). Since she got up a couple of hours early this morning she's now taking an early nap. The nap went a little bit differently: Once I left the room, she went to the door and cried for 19 minutes (what?-I wasn't counting) and ever since she's been quiet. I haven't braved going to check on her yet, so I don't know if she's actually sleeping in the bed or not. But she isn't playing with books...I pulled her toybox in front of the bookshelf so she couldn't get to either. ;)

Wow! Good for you and Kora both! Jackson was 2 and 1/2 before we did the switch..but we went straight to big boy bed. Preston might be older than that! He is just shy of 35 inches (they still let him ride the rollercoaster though!) :) He LOVES his bed. He cried for it in Disney World. He likes it all enclosed like that as did Jackson. Wonder why Dr. Chin recommends the height thing? Our doctor said it was fine to use our judgement when we asked with Jackson. Of course he wasn't trying to climb out and neither is Preston.
