I don't know about you, but when I feel that first real chill in the air (like today), my mind immediately changes. How, you ask? Well, two ways...chilly weather changes the way I eat and the way I dress.
With today being that first "real" chill, I decided tonight was the perfect night to start the cold weather cooking (that's sounds much too official for what I actually do, but that's okay). So, I began with warming up a can of soup (see- I told you it wasn't really cooking) and making a grilled cheese sandwich, when I all the sudden became saddened. Why? Because my husband makes the absolute best grilled cheese sandwiches in the world- and he's not here! I decided to pick up my pouty lip and make one myself. Good thing I took a picture of the first one (and let Ella eat it) because my second one was solid black on both sides!! :(

Not a bad grilled cheese...huh, Honey? The worst part about the whole experience was when I sat Ella's sandwich in front of her, she immediately looked up at me and said, "Isss Dadas?" (That's Ella talk for "It's Daddy's"). "No, honey," I replied through a smirk, "Mommy's grilled cheese will have to do until Daddy comes home." Come home soon Dad! We love and miss you (and not just for your grilled cheeses either).
The other item I pulled out today is the main staple of my "at home" winter wardrobe: my slippers. I bought these crazy slippers one day about 4 or 5 years ago for pajama day at school and have fallen in love with them since. Most importantly, they keep my feet (especially my toes) warm and cozy.

From the moment I put these things on my feet, I've felt like a dog has been nipping at my ankles. As you can tell, Ella has taken quite the interest in my slippers...she follows me around on the floor trying to pull at the ribbons and fur. I think she likes them!
