Sunday we gathered at our church for the annual "Festival of Light." It's a wonderful time to fellowship with family, friends, and thousands of strangers around some beautiful property and see some great fireworks. Last year Ella was only six weeks old and in a cast, but even without it she would not have been mobile. We did however get the famous "Diet Coke" shot last year...as she showed off her newly-found smile:

This year was a totally different story. She was everywhere. Crawling around on the blanket, walking around the wagon, getting into other people's plates. She even found an ant bed! :(
Before dark, as usual, we packed a picnic dinner to enjoy on the grounds. One of the great highlights of the night was dinnertime. She had corn on the cob. This was a first for Ella. She loves corn kernels, but I wondered if she'd learn how to eat it off the cob. I think she got the hang of it...
Kate's an old pro at eating corn on the cob. I was taking turns feeding them, when I turned around and noticed they found their own way...
It was, however, a tad past her bedtime, so juice and a blanket (it was a little chilly) did help to keep her comfy. Check out those eyes!
She followed them all the way up the sky and sat still the entire time! She even clapped when they were over. We had a wonderful time even with a short rain shower- and expect to be at the same place, same time in 2009!
