Ella gave an award-winning performance this afternoon that would impress even the most skeptical members of the Academy! We were outside walking around, visiting with the neighbors, and checking the mail for about 30 minutes. Ella was in a great mood- she had taken about a 3 hour nap- so she was well rested. The little girl next door, Callie, played with her, ran her up and down the driveway, and made her laugh. All the while Ella was standing- with no breaks to crawl or sit down. Callie and her mom said good-bye, so Ella and I made our way inside to begin dinner.
So here I am with mail in my left hand and Ella's hand in my right hand as we start up the stairs to our front porch. The set of stairs consists of six stairs total. First step...cleared, second step...cleared, third step...BAM! That's when the show-stopping performance began...
I wouldn't classify this sound as a cry but an all-out scream, literally. The neighbors next door came back and even the neighbors across the street came out of their house to see what was going on. Not only the screams were noticeable, but Ella flailing herself on the ground (we'd made it up to porch by then) and acting as if she'd broken a limb! You'd seriously thought she had fallen down the stairs instead of falling into them. This went on outside for what seemed like an hour (but was only about 2 minutes) and then we headed into the house. It doesn't, however, end there...
Inside the house I tried a plethora (that's for you Rachel) of things...to no avail. Juice? No...Animal Crackers? No...Puffs? No-can you believe it...Fruit? Not a chance...Tickles? That made it worse...Even a Boo Boo Bunny? No. What would it take?....apparently some ten or more minutes for her to cry it out. Not to mention she wimpered, whined, and wouldn't leave my side for over an hour. I am NOT kidding!!!
It was a bad fall, and she has her first walking "battle wounds" to prove it- but dear heavens!! I could not believe it. I have always labeled her as a drama queen, but this beat any performance to date on the movie screens! All I can say is that I hope one day she uses these performances to make lots of money or win prestigious awards.
If I think this drama was bad, I can't wait until she's a teenager. Dear Jesus, start preparing me now!

Please note: these pictures were taken several hours after the incident occurred. She was nowhere NEAR this calm!!
