...How do you do it? Seriously- I cannot imagine two or more children at the same age at the exact same time. Furthermore- I can't imagine staying at home with them alone or having a spouse that is frequently gone due to their occupation. Why do you ask?
Well, for the last day and a half (it will be two days before the stay is over) I have been a stay-at-home mom to two girls essentially the same age without any help from my spouse (he's traveling on business). Kate has been having a sleepover with Ella last night and tonight because her mom and dad went on a long day trip today. I've kept Kate several times before and even overnight (without Earl)- but this is the longest without any adult intervention!
Both girls have been very well behaved and I'm so lucky that they've even slept and napped at the same times- mostly because they wake each other up if they're not sleeping at the same time. It's just, well, a lot of work.
Two mouths to feed at the same time, then (the hard part) two bodies, four hands, two bibs, two highchair trays, and one MESSY floor to clean up. Baths are fine- just stick them in the the tub at the same time and they play great. The hard part comes when they have to get out of the tub, brush their teeth, and then be diapered, lotioned, and clothed- all while needing that bottle that they spot and being extremely tired. All with TWO hands. Not to mention that I didn't even sleep last night because I had the monitor in between the two rooms the girls slept in and I was so worried I wouldn't hear them I tossed and turned- even though they both slept fine!
Wow! That's exhausting all over again just to write about it! We've had a blast together. We've rode in the wagon, walked the driveway at least fifty times, blown bubbles, played with toys, cleaned out ALL the cabinets in the kitchen (literally), and shared lots of laughs together. What night/day/night.
I love 'em both- and I've thoroughly enjoyed this time together. But, as stated previously, I have a new found appreciation to those parents of multiples. And Jon and Kate Plus 8? I can't even imagine- and at this point- I don't want to...

Sorry these are all of the girls as they are eating...it's the only time I had a chance to slow down long enough to remember to take a picture.
