I got up this morning and made it to church. I'm very proud that we were early because Earl is out of town, so I was solely responsible for getting her and myself ready, parking the car, taking her to her new Sunday School class, and making it to my own Sunday School class on time (the first one in the room might I add). When I dropped Ella off, she had a small rash that I thought was due to the vaccinations she received last week. While I was sitting in church, the pager that they give me every week goes off. I've gotten a pager every week since Ella has been in the nursery (since she got her cast off at 3 months old) and never been paged. I'm a little alarmed needless to say.
When I got to her room, I saw that the rash had grown immensely and she looks TERRIBLE! The director of preschool said it looked like an allergic reaction. So, I get out my phone and page Ella's pediatrician. Ella is playing fine and doesn't seem to have any problems breathing or other signs of a reaction that I know of.
When my phone call is returned, the nurse immediately states that rashes are hard to diagnose over the phone, but she'll try. She goes over a list of symptoms and questions that I answer. The diagnosis: Roseola. She states that because she had a fever on Wednesday and Thursday and now a rash that looks similar to a heat rash it sounds like Roseola.
After looking up some info on the Internet, it sounds just like what happened to Ella. But I share with the nurse that she switched to milk on Monday and had her shots last Thursday (which take 7 to 10 days to show signs of fever or reaction of any kind). I know that there are plenty of moms and more knowledgeable people that have seen this before. So, I just wonder what you think and if this looks like Roseola (she is covered from head to toe- these are the shots I could get). Click on the picture to enlarge and see detail:
